Surrounded by seas, greens and sunshine Delton Barrett’s creativity emerges from his surroundings.
With vibrant colours, exuding lights and captivating sceneries Delton is inspired to create from what he sees on a daily basis. Growing up on the Island of Nassau, Bahamas Delton was exposed too many outdoor adventures in the bushes, hikes, camping and the beach life. His love for inventing ideas and capturing the essence of life around him started in 2010. Prior to diving into photography Delton spent three years in school learning the fundamentals of art at C.R. Walker Senior High School. He gives credit to this era of his life because of what it taught him in his early years. After graduating Delton began to paint casually until 2010 when he finally became most interested in Photography. Moved by the beautiful sunrises and sunsets Delton found a joy in photographing nature in all its beauty.
Eventually he began to explore different avenues of photography that rapidly led him to find his passion in creating story telling, fine art and conceptual images. Since 2010 Delton has evolved in his craft, being more confident in his practice. His work involves a combination of nature and man made inventions to convey or portray an idea that intrigues, inspires and question the viewer. He focuses on creating images that embraces the freedom of life in nature, the innovation of mankind and stories that portray the irony of life in society. “The humour of life inspires me to create stories through photography” he says. This “humour” he talks about can be seen in metaphors, plays on wordings and simple wisdom that can be openly seen in society.
Delton is widely known as a photographer but is also called an artist by many for obvious reasons. He aims to create artistic imagery that can be felt. For Delton his journey into photography has opened many doors and unlocked many skills which has led him to be where he is today. He is ever learning, always looking for adventures and is more inspired to inspire those around him.
